Well hello there ya cheeky monkey.

Another delightful weekend out of the way. This one involved a VIP area in a supremely poncey bar; a whitey of epic proportions; the arrival, in our humble abode, of another great avalanche of shit; a very good curry; some Play-Doh; a couple who'd locked themselves out; the mangling of a mates good looks; a humbling experience and my 2nd annual visit to Croke park:

Hurling's great. It's really fast, brutal, and terrific to watch at high levels. The people who play it are also mental- which adds to the appeal immensely. It's as close an approximation of quidditch as we've got. Sadly the Deise only drew with Cork, so they'll be playing again next week to see who gets into the semis, but it was, as Wallace may or may not have once said, a grand day out.

Twas also the Birthday of one Mr. R. Lynch- who I'm glad to say, doesn't appear to be wising up any time soon... And we were honoured with the company of (nouvelle-derelicte) Sunny B again. Always a pleasure, bav.

Realised with no small amount of glee that it won't be long before the return of Pedo and inga; my two favourite travelling headcases. This weekend also saw the return of La Madsen from her round the world trip, and no doubt she will be descending on Dublin any day now. Also am expecting a visit from film geek extraordinaire, Hallam head and all round good-egg, stevo.

Suddenly, the summer seems to be happening....

Blogging's fun.
I'm gonna try and do more.

Reactions so far today to the fact that I'm wearing mo's violently yellow hoodie:

1x I like your hoodie.
2x Why are you wearing that?
2x What's that stain?

This guy's a cool bastard. He's called buck 65 and I went to hear him sing his little ditties in a smelly underground dungeon last night. It rocked. Thanks as well to insane dreadhead Paul from way back in the day for bringing him to my attention... your enthusiasm has travelled, my friend. If you see him about say hi.

Today I'm wearing yellow.

No, I'm not sure about it either.

And now I've got the potter madness...

Forgoing food, sleep, blinking, company and (to quote Lynch) "one very good party", in the greedy single-minded pursuit of HAVING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. It's like crack. I love how this latest one is paced- really quiet, THEN REALLY FUCKING EXCITING, then it calms down again, THEN IT ALL GOES FUCKING TITS UP!!!!

Bliss. I'm about halfway through now. I'm probably gonna kill myself when it's done.

So I'm up to chapter 4 of the new potter. First impressions were slight disappointment at the smaller size than we've become accustomed to, but- happliy, unremitting pleasure of finally being able to read it. Already some theories I shared with others, and they with me, have been given more credence. And there's already been one true blue lump-in-the-throat moment.

Also saw the film there last week. Most accomplished so far I reckon. And much better than the hash they made of the last one. Hermione, though, still puts my teeth on edge.

But enough of that.

Had a most pleasurable weekend there last week when I went up for Olivia's surprise party, though headed to bed well before it all got too messy. Then headed en masse to Ballycastle again. Good old-fashioned family fun.

Also went to see George Clinton a few weeks ago in the company of Herr Loughlin et chums. Usually the sight of a pensionable male wearing a nappy on stage fills me with a sense of embarrased pity, but this time was different. 4+ hours of 30-odd musicians kicking 8 shades of phunk out of each other was, it turns out, what my life had been missing. That and a kebab. And I got one of those on the way home.

Last night, with rather clunking inevitability, I got hammered with a pleasing blend of mates, work buddies and family (well, Brenda, at least). Covered a lot more ground that I've become used to as well, visiting at least 2 watering holes, then hitting the floor in 2 clubs. All rounded off with a sound drenching on the long hard road back to rathmines at 4. Sigh. I have no words for the weather this summer. I'll try a sound:

mmmmwwwwwoooooohhhhhsssss MARRRRRRRRRRG!

...

No, I don't think that covers it either. Oh well.
